Calipari/Sgrena: The soldiers are cleared
The American soldiers have been absolved of responsibility in the Calipari/Sgrena shooting incident. Colour me surprised, I would never have thought that the U.S. military would rise to the defense of its soldiers when they are being investigated for killing allies. I can can not think of any other allies who have been in this position before (Canada (bombing of soldiers), Italy again (jet destroyed a ski lift), Japan (schoolgirl raped and killed), South Korea (Schoolgirls flattened fatally by a vehicle and I didn't even have to think for this list).

US military investigators have cleared American soldiers of any wrongdoing over the killing of an Italian agent at a Baghdad checkpoint, an official says.
Nicola Calipari was killed by US forces as he travelled in a car near Baghdad airport after securing the release of Italian hostage Giuliana Sgrena.
Ms Sgrena, who had been held by Iraqi kidnappers, was hurt in the incident.
The US soldiers were "not culpable" according to the US military report, which Italy has refused to endorse.
"The United States is ready to release the report but Italy has more questions," the official said.
